Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising lands on Switch 2 in September with 40-character Legendary Edition
Cygames opens pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising — a £39.99 Legendary Edition with all DLC, a Gyro Versus mode and the Version 2.60 update on 17th September.

Cygames has opened pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, arriving on 17th September as a single all-you-can-eat Legendary Edition at £39.99/€49.99/$49.99 — complete with a Switch 2-exclusive Gyro Versus mode that lets you perform combos by shaking your Joy-Con.
According to the announcement, pre-orders opened on 27th August via the Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop. The Legendary Edition bundles the base game with both Deluxe Character Passes and the Additional Character Set for Id, giving access to all 40 playable characters — a tidy entry point for anyone who skipped the PS5, PS4 and Steam versions back in 2023.
What's actually in the box
Beyond the base game and two Deluxe Character Passes (Season 1 and Season 2 DLC characters, premium avatars, colour variants, weapon skins, costumes for Gran and Djeeta, and the Canaan Shrine stage), the Legendary Edition includes the newest roster addition Id. Early purchases also net the Reverent Attire costume for Sandalphon — free until 3:59 PM CET on 12th January 2027, sold separately after that.
Gyro Versus and the 2.60 update
Gyro Versus is the Switch 2 party trick: exclusive to that version, playable in Versus Mode, and designed so anyone can indulge in the rush of battle regardless of skill level — wiggle your way to victory. The same day, Version 2.60 rolls out to all platforms with two new system mechanics: Chain Attacks for more combo opportunities, and Super Ultimate+, a control scheme offering powerful versions of characters that far exceed their standard capabilities.
The Switch 2 build also supports Local Communication for internet-free nearby matches and crossplay with other platforms, plus the Grand Bruise! party-game mode for up to 30 players online.
Link bonuses and merch
Linking save data with Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok on the same platform unlocks bonuses in both games, including a Premium Sword weapon skin and colour variants for Id, two lobby avatars, special card designs and a system voice. Id merchandise — acrylic stands, a key chain and Sandalphon in his Reverent Attire — opens for pre-order on the CyStore on 17th September, closing 8:00 AM CEST on 19th October.
Our opinion
On paper this is a genuinely good deal: the Legendary Edition costs the same as the Standard Edition on other platforms while throwing in two seasons of DLC and Id. If you have been waiting for a portable Granblue fighter, £39.99 for 40 characters and crossplay is hard to argue with, and Arc System Works fighters tend to hold their value.
The caution flags are the usual ones: Super Ultimate+ sounds gloriously unbalanced, Gyro Versus is a novelty you will show a friend exactly twice, and 2023-era netcode on a new platform deserves scrutiny at launch. But as an all-in-one package timed neatly for Switch 2's first autumn? Cygames has priced it right. Shake, don't stir.
